Yesterday IKEA opened their new “megastore” in Exeter. with an investment of 80m pounds stirling, this 29.000m² shopping centre will enable the sought after products from the “swedish giant” to get to the south east of the UK

One of the leading UK Principal Contractors, McLaughlin & Harvey were awarded the Construction of this project. As with the previous IKEA in Sheffield, Treanor Pujol has been contracted to supply the hollowcore slabs that make up the flooring in this building.

With this new opening, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the company, IKEA shows their interest in increasing outlets and investing in the UK market. They have done this with great success, by providing a “state of the art” self-sustaining shopping facility and the creation of 350 new jobs in the local Exeter and Devon labour market.

The Exeter IKEA has the same winning structural composition as the new Sheffield store; namely steel frame with hollowcore slab floors provided by Treanor Pujol. The design of the building includes a restaurant and 1000 parking places with specific charging bays for electric cars.
